Chemnitz, Dresden and Freiberg Universities of Technology as well as Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences are pooling their expertise to establish a joint, interdisciplinary research campus for a climate-neutral circular economy (CircEcon) in Lusatia that will be unique in Europe.
At the Lusatia CircEcon Campus, a synergistic cluster of Saxony’s research competencies will design and explore new paths for a high-efficiency circular economy using pilot lines, testing equipment, lab configurations and demonstration systems. It will then work together with companies to develop these for launch on the market. By incorporating artificial intelligence, digitalization and energy management based on green hydrogen, plans are in place to evaluate and close any gaps in the value chain in a climate-neutral manner – from raw materials extraction and processing to the creation of working materials and processes to structures and reproduction.
